Jamie Moyer
Some facts about Moyer:
- The oldest active player in Major League Baseball
- 82 wins after the age of 40, this is more than Warren Spawn, Charlie Hough, Nolan Ryan, and Roger Clemens
- Signed a 2 year deal with the Phillies for a guaranteed $13M and will be almost 48 years old at the end of the deal
- Throws his fastball in the low 80s
- Does not throw a knuckleball
Amazing stuff. While I'm still a bit skeptical about the idea of giving a 46 year-old pitcher $13M, I'll admit I was dead wrong about Moyer. I thought the Phils were wasting their money when they gave him a $10.5M contract two years ago - instead he became a big part of a World Series. I'm hoping for the best on this deal - maybe he can pitch till he's 50.

The biggest advantage and most valuable assest in all of baseball is the left-handed pitcher who can throw strikes. Its not velocity...that's the biggest myth.
