Trying to sell a US Senate seat is a deplorable act.*  Thinking you can plan such a thing over the phone, despite being the subject of multiple federal investigations over the past few years is just plain stupid. I think the stupidity may be more even offensive to me than the corruption. It's like he tried to take down the bank vault but asked a gas station robber how to do it.
