Foreign Policy Realism

Check out this interview of Brent Scowcroft, National Security Advisor under President Ford and President H.W. Bush.  His thoughts on Afghanistan (9:30) and Iran (11:20) are particularly refreshing views.  While I certainly don't think Scowcroft is the answer to all of America's problems, it is nice to hear from a foreign policy realist every once in a while.  It's like night and day compared to the neoconservative extremism of the past 7 or 8 years.

If more people like Scowcroft were part of the George W. Bush Administration, maybe we wouldn't be in Iraq today.  Here is his Op-Ed against the invasion in August 2002.

Wow. Until listening to that interview I am embarassed to say I had not appreciated how thoughtful and insightful a man Scowcroft is. Obama should heed his wisdom. Boomer
