Quantifying The Cost Of Showboating

A Norwegian astrophysicist estimates that Usain Bolt could have run a much better time if he didn't showboat.  Interesting, but given the margin of error in his calculation, the range he gives is pretty wide - and therefore not very useful.  I'd like someone to quantify the stupidity of DeSean Jackson's showboat maneuver on Monday night.  Even though it didn't end up affecting the game, I'm pretty sure I won't ever forget it.

Addendum:
Here is DeSean Jackson making a similar showboating blunder in high school.  You'd think he would've learned after this one. Unbelievable.

They need to call in a code red on DeSean Jackson. That was worse than when Plaxico Burress spiked the ball in the middle of the field when he was not tackled, because he thought he was still in college.

I have a personal theory on the Usain Bolt matter. I think at that point when he knew he would win (when he started showboating), he puposely showboated (knowing he would lose a few hundreths of a second by so doing) so he could come back at a later time and beat his own record and once again become the center of attention (being the egotist that he is). Perhaps I ascribe too much to him, but why else would you not try your utmost to finish in the shortest time you possibly can, especially when the whole world is watching you. Boomer
