A Level-Headed Debate About Real Foreign Policy

Anyone interested in foreign policy should really start watching Fareed Zakaria GPS before the executives at CNN cancel it. While I'll be the first to admit Mr. Zakaria has a bit of an awkward delivery as a host, the content of the show is top-notch. In this past week's episode, Mr. Zakaria sat down with Richard Holbrooke, Jorge Castaneda, and Bret Stephens. As you will see, the members of the panel often directly disagreed with one another, but the debate remained grounded in civility, logic, and reality. The show does not dumb down issues, but rather, it assumes a certain level of knowledge on the part of the viewer.  As you watch the segments, you can't help but notice how truly different this show is compared to the "leading" weekday news shows - whose specialties seem to be sensational, emotional arguments and the art of yelling.

The panel discussion is broken down into two parts.  Here is Part 1 and Part 2.
