Why Jon Stewart Is Important

In an interview on the Daily Show, Doug Feith (Under Secretary of Defense, Jul '01 - Aug '05) tries to make the point that the Bush administration didn't lie about the Iraq War, but rather, they "grossly mishandled the public explanation."

Stewart's response:

"Just because your intentions are good and noble and you believe it to be the right move for the country, doesn't make [up for] dishonesty - and I'll say why I think why - because you remove the ability for the American public to make an informed decision. And once you have removed that - than you no longer have, I think, the authority.  Because what you've done is - you've told us what part of the argument you think is appropriate for us to know about."
